Quilting/Sewing

I started off quilting about 14 years ago. My Nanna and Mum taught me to sew, embroider at around age 6 when I took at massive interest in it. When I was 15 and started working full time, I bought my first sewing machine a janome. I made all of my clothes for work from bought patterns . By the time I was nineteen I was married and still sewing ,curtains for our home and clothing . When I was 22 I had my first baby and sewed the curtains for the baby room , change mats, cot sheets and so forth and her christening outfit and of course maternity gear for me. All the time still knitting, crocheting and working full time. Three kids later and lots of years since I have progressed into other areas of craft but still going back to each craft when I feel like it. I usually have 2 or 3 things on the go at once and I do perfect the art before moving on.
Anyway 14 years or so ago , I bought a patchwork and quilting magazine and thought I would love to sew that. My first lap quilt was for my mum for her 60th birthday. I wanted to print old photo's on dupion silk and ribbon embroider around each print. The quilting was average, you know squares not lining up and so forth but the printed silk with ribbon embroidery was gorgeous. I never took a photo of it but I will next time I see mum and I will pop it on this page.
Second one was a Bear Paw quilt, It turned out fantastic . It is a queen size one and my middle daughter has claimed that .
I taught her to quilt at age 11 when she made her own Stairway to cat heaven quilt, which she still uses at 25 years old today. Once again no photo but will when I am over at my daughters next.

Next one was a chicken quilt for my son. It turned out gorgeous.Photo below

.
After that it was his soccer quilt. He and I designed the quilt on paper and then I just let things come to me as I made it. It was really fun and freeing to make. Photo below

I made a couple of baby quilts along the way and just popped them away.

Some other quilts I have made below.

Then came my biggest project ever.
This one was for my hubby, whom I love very much. It took me 6 months to make and is a queen size quilt with all hand appliqued fish of all sorts over it . I absolutely love this quilt with all my heart. I never tired while I was making and designing it.
I start with a  background design in my head and then take it from there. I dream designs from start to finish when I am quilting. I never think I CAN'T DO IT. I have never been to a class of any description for quilting but I have bought many books and read them from cover to cover and also read so much on the internet.
Here is the photo to my very favourite quilt ever.

A couple of handmade gifts made by me for my daughters friend twin girls.
