I made it after seeing a weaving frame online and I thought this might work really well for my backstrap weaving projects. Making it more portable and I can walk away from it and the warps do not go out of alignment, its just less messy for me.
Admittedly it takes up a fair amount of room once assembled but comes apart really quickly for storage and travelling. Another benefit it has it's own warping board built in.
In my opinion its the best frame I have ever worked on for keeping tension, loosening tension, shed control, warping and ease of use.
Best of all it wasn't expensive to make
My wood working skills are very basic to say the least but over the years I have watched my hubby and tried to imitate what I could remember. I am not afraid to give anything a go even if its not as perfect as it should be (admittedly I do really like perfection) . My theory is as long as it does the job its intended to do and does it well , who am I to judge.
I started out making my own Knitting Needles/Crochet hooks because I wanted the really extra large size. My hubby helped me with angles on the first one as that is something I am not great at meaning Maths. Everything is by eye and not maths with me, whereas, he is totally the opposite. I used a scroll saw and a dremel and a belt sander.
Here it the knitting needles/ crochet hooks
My tablet weaving loom . I am so happy with how this turned out. Also the card threader that I made. All made out of poplar. I love the grain in this timber. I haven't sealed it yet.
My beautiful inkle weaving loom. Its been sealed with Danish Oil and I love the finish. Once again made with poplar wood.
My little lap rigid heddle loom. Made out of pine. It just sits beautifully on lap in the car.
I made it to do really small backstrap bands on while we are driving or in between clients for me. Small enough to take anywhere.
